Help us prioritize patient-centered research

Please take a moment as you write your legislators to personalize your email to them. It makes a huge difference when you add your story! Thank you!

Patients, their families, and clinicians face a wide range of complex and often-confusing choices when it comes to making healthcare decisions.  The kidney community knows this better than most.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) was established in 2010 to provide patients and caregivers with the information they need to make decisions about the treatment or other care options best for them.  PCORI works by funding studies that engage patients at all stages of the research process to ensure patients’ needs and views are considered.  To date, PCORI has supported 18 kidney-specific studies that are helping patients and their caregivers make better-informed decisions about their options for treating kidney disease.

Unless Congress acts to reauthorize PCORI, this meaningful research will cease at the end of September 2019, leaving kidney patients holding the bag.

We cannot take anything for granted. Will you write Congress to urge them to reauthorize PCORI and continue to prioritize lifesaving patient-centered research? Please remember to personalize your email by telling your legislators why programs like this help patients and caregivers.
