Patients, their families, and clinicians face a wide range of complex and often-confusing choices when it comes to making healthcare decisions. The kidney community knows this better than most.
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) was established in 2010 to provide patients and caregivers with the information they need to make decisions about the treatment or other care options best for them. PCORI funds studies that engage patients at all stages of the research process to ensure patients’ needs and views are considered. To date, PCORI has supported 19 kidney-specific studies that are helping patients and their caregivers make better-informed decisions about their options for treating kidney disease.
Unless Congress acts to reauthorize PCORI, this meaningful research will cease at the end of 2019
We cannot take anything for granted. Please write Congress to urge them to reauthorize PCORI and continue to prioritize lifesaving patient-centered research.
